Star Trek and other stuff...

If you haven't seen it yet, go right now. Star Trek is a kick-ass movie! The casting was spot on, the special effects were fabulous and it kept me engaged from beginning to end which is saying something for a two-hour movie. I love good film but I don't get a chance to go to the movies very often. The one theatre in the one-horse town I currently live in is inconvenient to get to, alas and alack... and as an aside, why do / when did men devolve from "let's get to the theatre on opening day" to "I think I can get the bootleg copy so we can see it at home"? (I'd be surprised if I had any male readers but in case I do, here's a tip for the Neanderthals out there: don't get complacent. Bootlegs and DVDs are not a substitute for throwing some clothes on and actually taking us out to the movies. You don't even have to buy us popcorn; now that we know about the liquid death they pour on it, we hardly eat it anymore.)
But I digress. As a long time Star Trek:TOS fan, I can say this movie doesn't disappoint!

It's another cloudy day here in my part of the world which makes it a good day to stay indoors. I'm glad I didn't schedule anything this weekend because I really need the down time. My goal this summer is to book as many craft shows as possible but of course, I need time to create as well, and time to just veg. I need to build up my inventory a bit but I had a little bit of drama going on this week and couldn't seem to get comfortable at my worktable. I have learned not to push it when that happens. Sooner or later, creativity comes back and when it does, I'm like a house afire. Ideas just seem to appear out of thin air.

I keep trying to clean up my table but somehow I almost seem to work better when there are a certain amount of beads and balls and findings sprawled out, mixed up and jumbled all over the desk top. It's odd -- on the one hand, clutter frustrates and unnerves me, on the other, it enables me to see everything and try this and that until something clicks. Guess I should just stop fighting it and just accept that this is the way I work. I was always more of an Oscar than a Felix and I suppose I still am.

For the third year in a row, I've got a tent at the upcoming Collingswood May Fair in Collingswood, NJ next Saturday. If you see a tent with a big "Abelee's Handcrafted" sign, stop on by.

My mother loved the Star Treks..she got me watching TNG. I enjoyed watching them with her.

You don't want to know what my table looks like when I create. It is post Oscar. It is as if Oscar exploded, reformed and came back twice as bad.

Good luck next weekend.

Thanks for the review, Lee! I am going to see it as soon as I can manage the time.
